Bolt, the popular ride-hailing and mobility company, has announced the appointment of Baaba Hammond as the new Country Manager for Bolt Business in Ghana. Her role will focus on expanding the company’s corporate travel services and strengthening its business solutions for organisations across the country.
Baaba’s promotion comes as Bolt continues to grow its operations in Africa and position itself as a strong alternative to traditional corporate travel options. She will be responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives, building the local team, and supporting Ghanaian businesses with cost-effective and flexible mobility solutions.
Her appointment is also a testament to her remarkable journey within Bolt. Baaba joined the company more than five years ago, starting in customer support for Bolt Rides, where she worked for 18 months before transitioning into Bolt Business. She was the first employee in Ghana dedicated to Bolt Business and has since risen steadily through the ranks.
In 2021, she was promoted to Business Development Manager and later to Senior Business Development Manager. Before her career at Bolt, Baaba worked for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for over three years, gaining valuable experience in business development and corporate engagement.
Her new position as Country Manager represents not just personal achievement but also the company’s confidence in nurturing local talent to drive its African expansion.
Milu Kipimo, Regional Manager at Bolt Business, commended her dedication and career growth within the organisation. “We are thrilled to see the progress of Baaba since joining Bolt Business in 2020 and happy to see her taking the lead in our operations in Ghana. Her experience will support our journey as we scale across Africa and bring new perspectives to our approach. This appointment underscores our commitment to the region as we continue to find better ways of serving our business customers,” he said.
Baaba Hammond expressed her excitement at the appointment, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen Bolt’s position in Ghana’s corporate mobility sector. “I’m honoured to step into this new role leading Bolt Business in Ghana. I look forward to leveraging my experience with corporates and businesses to drive our ambitious growth goals while delivering the high-quality service our customers expect from Bolt Business,” she said.
Bolt Business was launched in 2018 as part of Bolt’s wider mission to “make cities for people, not cars.” The service provides corporate ride-hailing and food delivery solutions, enabling companies to manage travel costs more efficiently. Today, the platform operates in more than 50 markets globally, serving over 50,000 firms as of December 2024.
The expansion of Bolt Business in Ghana comes at a time when companies are seeking more flexible solutions for travel and logistics. Traditional corporate transport services are often costly and rigid, leaving businesses looking for digital alternatives that are both convenient and affordable. Bolt’s model, which combines technology with affordability, positions it strongly to capture this growing demand.
Industry analysts note that Ghana’s corporate travel sector is growing rapidly due to economic expansion, increased trade, and the presence of multinational companies. By focusing on this segment, Bolt is expected to boost its revenues while helping businesses cut down on operational expenses.
For Ghanaian professionals, entrepreneurs, and companies, the arrival of a dedicated Bolt Business manager represents greater access to tailored corporate services. From ride-hailing for staff to reliable delivery solutions, the company is positioning itself as a one-stop solution for mobility and logistics.
Baaba Hammond’s leadership will also contribute to gender diversity in senior corporate roles within the technology and transport sector, a space often dominated by men. Her career progress highlights the growing visibility of women in leadership positions across Africa’s digital economy.
With this appointment, Bolt has reaffirmed its commitment to long-term investment in Ghana and Africa at large. As corporate travel demand grows and mobility services evolve, the company is betting on its technology-driven solutions to stand out from competitors and become the first choice for businesses.
