Londoners will soon be able to go inside the world of Guillermo del Toro‘s “Frankenstein.”
A new exhibition focused on the Mexican auteur’s upcoming Netflix adaptation of Mary Shelley’s iconic novel, titled “Frankenstein: Crafting a Tale Eternal,” is coming to the Old Selfridges Hotel from Oct. 17 to Nov. 9.
According to a press release, the exhibition “will celebrate del Toro’s visionary storytelling and the exceptional craftsmanship of his team. Diving deep into his elaborate filmmaking process, it will showcase an impressive collection of stunning props, artwork, costumes, Tiffany & Co. jewelry featured in the film and rare books curated by the firm Peter Harrington to honor Mary Shelley’s legacy.”
“Frankenstein: Crafting a Tale Eternal” is presented by Netflix in partnership with LFF for Free, the BFI London Film Festival’s program of free events, and will be free to the public. Del Toro’s “Frankenstein” will screen at the BFI London Film Festival on Oct. 13 ahead of premiering in select U.K. and Ireland cinemas on Oct. 17 and releasing globally on Netflix Nov. 7.
“This film concludes a journey for me that started at age 7, when I saw James Whale’s ‘Frankenstein’ films for the first time. Gothic horror became my church, and Boris Karloff my Messiah,” del Toro said in a statement. “It is an honor to be able to invite people to take a closer look at how my incredible crafts team and I have brought Mary Shelley’s world to life on screen.”
Free tickets for the exhibition will be available to book from 8 a.m. BST on Friday on Selfridges‘ website.
