GOAL Crystal Palace 0-2 Bournemouth (Kroupi 38)
Premier League: Kroupi strikes again, scoring his second goal of the game after converting from 12 yards following excellent work in the build-up from Antoine Semenyo. Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson got a hand to the ball but was unable to prevent it nestling in the corner of the net. If Bournemouth win today they will go top of the table for a couple of hours at the very least.
Championship: Sorba Thomas puts Stoke one up against Wrexham, beating the Welsh side’s goalkeeper Arthur Okwonko with an effort that loked suspiciously like a cross.
Manchester City 0-0 Everton: Iliman Ndiaye plays Beto through in a one-on-one with the Donnarumma, but Everton’s Portuguese striker fires wide. His blushes are spared by the offside flag but it looked extremely tight. I think if he’d scored, that would have been given. It’s a very big ‘if’, mind.
Scottish Premiership: In the post-Russell Martin era, managerless Rangers lead Dundee United courtesy of a Thelo Aasgaard strike after 25 minutes. Kevin Muscat is reported to be on the verge of taking over at Ibrox.
Championship: Jay Stansfield has fired Birmingham City level with Hull.
Ange Postecoglou sacked by Nottingham Forest: The latest: TNT Sports have reported that Ange Postecoglou addressed his players in the home dressing-room at the City Ground after their defeat against Chelsea. Following his debrief, he was summoned to a meeting with Edu in a nearby corridor and left for the car-park with a rucksack slung over his back shortly afterwards. Forest’s players were then summoned to a meeting in the boardroom. All this occurred within 19 minutes of the final whistle being blown in today’s early kick-off.
Manchester City 0-0 Everton: Everton defender Jake O’Brien has just unwittingly rattled his own cross-bar with a header as Manchester City continue to pile the pressure on Everton, who have missed the best chance of the game.

Premier League: Lesley Ogochukwu nods home a splendid cross from Kyle Walker to give Burnley the lead at Turf Moor.
Championship: Sonny Carey puts Charlton ahead against Sheffield Wednesday, scoring on the follow-up after Wednesday goalkeeper Ethan Horvath had parried his initial shot straight back to him.

Premier League: Nordi Mukiele puts Sunderland in front. Playing at right-back today, he picks up the ball on the left, plays a one-two with Trai Hume and fires a low shot past Sam Johnstone, who got a hand to the ball but couldn’t keep it out. It’s the French international’s first goal for Sunderland.

Manchester City 0-0 Everton: Iliman Ndiaye capitalises on a mistake from Nathan Ake and squares the ball for Beto, who stretches every sinew and connects but hits the post. Everton have been under the cosh but should be in front.
Sunderland 0-0 Wolves: Sunderland thought they’d taken the lead courtesy of an excellent Wilson Isidor finish but the curtain-twitchers at Stockley Park have spotted an offside in the build-up and it’s been ruled out.

Also, why not do this two weeks ago at the start of the international break? Bizarre way to run a football club.”
Nottingham Forest have sacked Ange Postecoglou
Breaking news! Evangelos Marinakis has decided enough is enough and sacked Ange after just eight matches in charge at the City Ground. The Australian had been in charge of the team for just 39 days.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” read a statement on the club website. “The Club will make no further comment at this time.”
An email: “Ange is gonna have to go back to the drawing board, have a good hard think about how today’s game went, and line up a whole new monologue for next week’s press conference,” writes Sean Orlowicz.
Next week’s press conference? I’d say he’ll do well to make today’s post-match press conference.
Match report: Nottingham Forest 0-3 Chelsea
Premier League: Just 39 days into the job, Ange Postecoglou’s future as Forest manager is looking bleak after his side failed to convert dominance into goals in the opening 45 minutes, then went on to capitulate in the second half. Ben Fisher reports from the City Ground …
Championship: Oxford have beaten Derby County at the Kassam Stadium, with Stanley Mills getting the only goal of the game. At St Mary’s, Southampton have played out a scoreless draw with Swansea City, while QPR have just lost 2-1 at home to Millwall, who go third in the table.

Premier League: Forest Have lost and been booed off again, Chelsea have had another player sent off and rather than litter the pitch, upstanding citizen and Chelsea captain Reece James took an inordinate amount of time to dispose of a note passed to him from the touchline before scoring his side’s third goal. Worryingly for Ange Postecoglou, his boss Evangelos Marinakis lost interest in the game and left the director’s box long before it ended.

Premier League: Forest are inept at defending set-pieces and Reece James capitalises on this occasion with a shot on the volley as Matz Sels punches a corner his way. His low drive through a thicket of legs ends up in the back of the net. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis left his seat shortly after the second goal went in and now the home fans are leaving the City Ground in their droves.
As is customary, Chelsea have just had a player sent off, with Malo Gusto getting his marching orders for committing a stupid, needless foul while on a yellow card with his side 3-0 up.

Burnley v Leeds United: Burnley outspent Leeds in the summer as the two plotted a path to Premier League competitiveness, writes Will Unwin from Turf Moor. Both clubs secured 100 points each on their way up from the Championship, with today’s visitors taking the title on goal difference. This fixture during that successful campaign was one of the worst matches in history, and I should know, I was there. A solitary shot on goal all game, which game in the final minute was the only moment of note in a goalless draw. Today must be better. Please let it be better.
If Burnley are to stay up, good home form will be imperative, especially against those in a similar bracket. The Clarets brushed Sunderland aside at Turf Moor earlier this year and they will be hoping for a similar result today but they start four points and three places behind their Yorkshire rivals. Each side is averaging a goal a game and are yet to find a consistent scorer. Lyle Foster is a doubt for Burnley, which could allow Armando Broja a first Premier League start. The Albanian scored on international duty in midweek and will be eager to prove his worth after an injury-hit career and a £20m price tag. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has shown promise for Leeds but has missed too many good chances but if it clicks for him, he could be the difference between survival and relegation.
Manchester City v Everton: Manchester City are without Rodri, the defensive midfielder having torn a hamstring in their match against Brentford two weeks ago. Versatile defender Abdukodir Khusanov remains sidelined with an ankle injury he suffered against Arsenal that has kept him out of City’s past four matches. In better news for Pep Guardiola, Omar Marmoush, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Mateo Kovacic are all reported to be available for selection after spells of varying length in the treatment room. In his only appearance of the season for club or country thus far, Kovacic played 69 minutes for Croatia in their World Cup qualifying win over Gibraltar last Sunday.
Everton winger Jack Grealish is ineligble to play against his parent club, while Nathan Patterson is also unavailable after pulling up lame in his first appearance of the season on Tuesday night for Everton U21s. Michael Keane, Jarrad Branthwaite and Merlin Rohl will all be assessed ahead of today’s game.
Brighton v Newcastle United: Brighton trio Solly March, Adam Webster and Brajan Gruda are all out with knee injuries, while Jack Hinshelwood is sidelined with an ankle problem. Kaoru Mitoma, Diego Gomez and Joel Veltman are all training after recovering from injury but their boss, Fabian Hurzeler, says there is “a question mark” over their availability.
Yet to play for Newcastle since signing from Brentford, Yoane Wissa is still out with a knee injury and has Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento to keep him company in the treatment room. Will Osula is a doubt but Eddie Howe reckons Joelinton may be fit enough to play after recovering from a groin injury. Jacob Ramsey is available after missing Newcastle’s past seven games, while Dan Burn continues to soldier on with a broken finger.
Crystal Palace v Bournemouth: Cheick Doucoure, Caleb Kporha and Chadi Riad remain out for Palace, who have announced that Marc Guehi will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Bournemouth winger David Brooks has been ruled out with a hamstring injury he suffered on international duty with Wales, while Adam Smith is in line for a return to Andoni Iraola’s matchday squad after recovering from his own hammy woes.
Burnley v Leeds United: Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts and Zeki Amdouni all remain sidelined for Burnley, but Scott Parker is hoping to have Lyle Foster and Jaidon Anthony available despite the duo suffering recent injuries.
Harry Gray and Willy Gnonto are both absent for Leeds United, while Noah Okafor is a doubt. Lucas Perri has recovered from a hamstring injury, while Dan James will have to undergo a fitness test as he tries to return from an ankle injury.
Sunderland v Wolves: For the hosts, Noah Sadiki (DR Congo) and Omar Alderete (Paraguay) both picked up injuries on international duty but may be fit enough to start. Habib Diarra, Leo Hjelde, Romaine Mundle and Reinaldo Mandava are all sidelined with injury.
Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira will be allowed to take his place in the technical area despite being shown a red card in his side’s draw with Brighton last time out. The Portuguese coach was quick to apologise for his petulance in kicking a ball away, but his FA hearing has yet to take place. Wolves strikers Hwang Hee-chan and Jorgen Strand Larsen are both struggling with injuries, while Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is a doubt through illness.

The latest international break of the season is over and the Premier League is back. Following today’s early match between Nottingham Forest and Chelsea at the City Ground, we have five three o’clock kick-offs upon which to keep tabs. Still seeking their first win of the season, Wolves travel to the Stadium of Light to take on a Sunderland side who will overtake that record-breaking low Derby County points tally after just eight games of the campaign if they can win or draw.
At Turf Moor, Burnley host Leeds United in a rare Premier League Managers Whose Surnames Rhyme derby, while two of the divisions more sought after gaffers will stand in adjacent technical areas as Crystal Palace try to score against Bournemouth for the first time in four meetings. The nonsensical rule forbidding on-loan players from lining up against their parent clubs means the in-form Jack Grealish will not get to play for Everton when they travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City. We can but speculate but one suspects non-celebration celebrations would have been conspicuous by their absence if Grealish was able to help Everton put one over on Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
